News Release: New Disc Golf Course Pilot Project Opens at Diefenbaker Park

A new disc golf hole sits atop a hill at Diefenbaker Park, overlooking the grassy field.

The City of Delta is excited to invite the community to experience the new Disc Golf Course Pilot Project at Diefenbaker Park. Now open to the public, the 12-hole course was professionally designed, with input from the local disc golf community.

The course begins at the eastern entrance in the forested area, adjacent to 56 Street, looping counterclockwise around the park, and finishing near the washroom building. Game rules are posted at the entrance, with signage posted throughout the park alerting users to potential flying discs.

“Disc golf has a strong, vibrant community in Delta and is an important component of our recreational identity,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “I am glad that we could deliver a new course, providing an opportunity for beginner and seasoned players alike to play the sport they love, just in time for the spring and summer seasons.”

Historically a home to informal disc golf, the park was selected for this project after consultation with disc golf players identified the park’s landscape, terrain, and amenities—like parking and washrooms—as ideal for a course. In October 2024, the City of Delta opened a six-hole interim disc golf course at Dennison Park following the decommissioning of the course at Winskill Park. The Dennison Park disc golf course remains open for public use.

A community engagement process in the fall of 2025 will help assess the success of the pilot project and identify whether the site is appropriate for a permanent course.

The Diefenbaker Park course is open from dawn until dusk and is free to use. Playing discs are not provided.
